At this year’s White House correspondents’ dinner, there was a new face that may have been unfamiliar to many – comedian Cecily Strong. After being asked to be the event’s featured entertainer, this 31-year-old Illinois native rocked the house. Strong, who has been a cast member on the popular sketch comedy show, Saturday Night Live, is certainly no stranger to bringing the funny, but now she has been catapulted into a whole new world. Anyone who can make a bunch of stiff politicians and media personnel laugh, obviously has some serious skills. Here are five things that Cecily Strong’s correspondents dinner appearance may do for her career.

1. Help her land more acting roles.

So far, Cecily Strong’s filmography is looking a little skimpy. However, thanks to her appearance at the White House correspondents’ dinner, she’ll probably land some more acting roles, and could quite possibly follow the path of other female comedians who have also appeared on Saturday Night Live.

2. Introduce her to a new group of fans.

If you’re not an avid Saturday Night Live viewer, there’s a pretty good chance you’ve never even heard of Cecily Strong. However, the correspondents’ dinner has opened her up to an entirely new audience who may have never gotten a chance to see her otherwise.

3. Give her an important legacy.

There aren’t too many comedians who can say they’ve been the featured performer at a White House correspondents’ dinner. No matter what happens in her career after this, Strong will always have this honor to hold on to.

4. Her jokes will become widely quoted.

During the correspondents’ dinner, Strong had some pretty amazing one liners that are already being quoted all over the internet.

5. She’ll become the most popular SNL cast member.

With her new level of fame, even people who only watch Saturday Night Live occasionally will be able to spot Strong. There’s a pretty good chance she’ll become the most popular cast member if she keeps heading in this direction.
