Peter Helliar car accident: Project star forced to deny hes dead

Publish date: 2024-05-14

The Project’s Peter Helliar has taken to Twitter to address rumours he had died.

The comedian posted a photo as his ‘proof of life’ on Friday. The rumours began after another person had posted Helliar may have died following a car crash. The misinformation quickly spread and Helliar’s fans were asking why he was trending.

The comedian addressed the gossip in his typical tongue-in-cheek fashion.

“The Afterlife goes OK. Not dead. Carry on. #PeterHelliar,” he captioned the photo.

Mr Helliar is not believed to have been in any car accident.

The comedian kept the gag going, posting a second time on Saturday from an aeroplane.

“Finally at peace... and on the way to the Gold Coast!” he wrote.

It has been a tumultuous year for The Project after original host Carrie Bickmore announced in February she would be leaving the show.

She explained that she and partner Craig had long dreamt of living in the UK with their family, and were finally taking the plunge before Bickmore’s eldest son starts his final years of schooling.

The mum-of-three said she had been inspired by radio star Kate Langbroek, 56, who spent two years living in Bologna, Italy, with her family.

“It feels like this is our last chance to do something like this together,” Bickmore said of the decision.

The media personality shares two children, daughters Evie, six, and Adelaide, three, with her partner Chris Walker, a television producer for the ABC and Channel 10.

She welcomed eldest son Oliver, 14, during her marriage to the late Greg Lange, who died of brain cancer in 2010. Bickmore has been on The Project panel since its inception in 2009, and is understood to be returning to the show after a few months overseas.
