Jenna Dewan Says She Is Bringing Back Old School Romance In Her New Show Flirty Dancing

Jenna Dewan is hosting the new Fox reality dating show Flirty Dancing, and the 39-year-old is excited to show viewers how easy it is to fall in love when you connect with someone through the art of dance. Dewan’s new show is based on the UK original version, and she says it’s bringing “old-school romance” to modern dating.

Flirty Dancing follows a group of strangers who are each individually taught half of a couple’s dance routine. Then, when the two people meet for the first time on a blind date, they don’t talk. Instead, they simply perform the dance routine they learned.

Dewan – who is a life-long dancer – recently told Entertainment Tonight that the new series is “absolutely amazing.”

“It’s such a fun and fresh show that I’m filming and I’m having the best time doing it,” said Dewan. “I watched the U.K. version and fell in love. I was literally crying in the first episode I saw.”

Dewan explained that the show is incredibly fun because it forces two people to use only movement and eye contact to connect, and this allows them to “really go off chemistry.” She says you have to immediately drop all of your walls in order to connect. And, as an experienced dancer, Dewan says it’s easy to know when there is chemistry, and when there isn’t.

Despite all of her dance experience, the Step Up star says she has never danced with someone who she hasn’t rehearsed with. But, she has had an initial meeting with somebody and then when dancing with them for the first time she felt “something.”

She explained that there’s something about when you let go and don’t use your words. When you are moving with each other’s bodies, Dewan says there is a different kind of connection that can be made.

What is beautiful about Flirty Dancing, says Dewan, is that it brings things back to basics because we all need connection and love. She added that the people on the show are looking for love, and when the sparks fly during their dances she gets super emotional.

Jenna Dewan is currently going through a nasty custody battle with her ex-husband Channing Tatum over their six-year-old daughter Everly. However, she has found new love with Steve Kazee, and they are expecting their first child together.

Flirty Dancing premieres on Fox on Sunday, December 29th. And, it will move to its regular time period starting Wednesday, January 1st.
