All Eyes Will Be On Lupita Nyongo At The Golden Globes After Actress Dazzles On The Bafta Tea Par

Publish date: 2024-04-12

The Golden Globes air on Sunday, January 6, 2019, and Lupita Nyong’o will present along with several of her Black Panther co-stars. Widely known for her beauty and Red Carpet appearances, fans are already thrilled to see her walk the Golden Globes Red Carpet after her stunning appearance at the BAFTA Tea Party. At Saturday’s event that was held at Beverly Hills’ Four Seasons, Lupita wore a multi-colored knit dress and paired it with a vibrant red blazer. The combination turned heads and drew praise from fans across social media networks.

Lupita shared several photos on her official Twitter account. As Black Panther has been nominated for three Globes: Best Original Score, Best Original Song (Motions Picture), and Best Motion Picture-Drama, there are many who hope the Marvel movie will win the top prize.

Black Panther is the first Disney superhero film that not only features an African character but a predominantly all-black cast. The movie was a tremendous success and a financial blockbuster.

The Golden Globes definitely won’t be under fire for racism at the awards unlike some other award shows in the past. Three of the five nominees for Best Motion Picture Drama feature black casts. These include Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, and If Beale Street Could Talk (based on the novel by civil rights activist James Baldwin). While Black Panther focuses on empowering the black community through fiction, BlacKkKlansman tells the true story of Ron Stallworth, the first black detective for the Colorado Springs Police Department who later infiltrates the KKK.

Although Lupita was not nominated for a Golden Globe this year for Black Panther, she won a best-supporting-actress Oscar for her work in 2013’s 12 Years a Slave.

As an Oscar-winning actress, we can expect that 2019 and beyond will bring Lupita more acclaimed acting roles. She has two movies set for a 2019 release including Little Monsters which comes out on January 27, 2019, and the upcoming Jordan Peele comedy, horror flick Us. Fans of the Blumhouse company have hopes that Us will be the next big thing from Peele and Jason Blum since Get Out. Us premieres in the U.S. on March 15, 2019.

Lupita is currently filming Star Wars: Episode IX where she reprises her role as Maz Kanata. Star Wars: Episode IX releases on Dec. 20, 2019.
